Edge Sealant Quantity Calculator

Estimate the amount of wet-glaze edge sealant required from total window perimeter, bead size, and package type. Calculations assume a 45° triangular bead and include a 10% waste allowance by default.

Project inputs

Enter the total linear footage to be sealed, then select the bead and package size.

Theoretical sealant20.78 fl oz
Waste allowance2.08 fl oz
Total sealant required22.86 fl oz
Theoretical coverage / package48.1 ft
Coverage with waste allowance43.8 ft
Material remaining after project7.14 fl oz
A 1/4" × 1/4" triangular bead uses approximately 0.208 fl oz per linear foot before waste.
Calculation: the bead is modeled as a perfect right triangle: area = ½ × bead width × bead depth. Total bead volume is converted from cubic inches to U.S. fluid ounces, then the selected waste allowance is added.
